"Monster Island," The Asylum's 2019 mockbuster, was released around the same time that "Godzilla: King of the Monsters". It's about an island called "Monster Island" where a monster lives, and the monster is, in a way, the island.


Since this is a movie about an asylum, it has about the same budget as a big kid's meal and uses it sparingly. It's (blog) a movie about a few people and only a few of its major characters are featured. The entire cast can be film on lunch break, so it focuses on the smaller human characters. It is a kaiju movie and that's just how they do, so perhaps The Asylum won’t do such an awful job.
